Totmans Farm (no longer a working farm) stands on the brow of the hill at the southern end of Thaxted. It is surrounded by beautiful Essex countryside and there are lovely views over open country with Thaxted’s cathedral-like Church and windmill in the distance – an ideal location for relaxing, touring our beautiful County or just a stop over for Stansted Airport (15 minutes away). Whatever the reason you will find Thaxted a truly memorable place to visit.

The suites are housed in a converted stable block with a courtyard aspect to one side and a 2 ½ acre meadow to the other. They are accessed from a west-facing conservatory where you will find seating to enjoy the wonderful sunsets that Thaxted has to offer; also a supply of books, games, and videos for those less hectic moments.

The accommodation comprises: 5 suites each with sitting room with comfortable furniture, breakfast table, TV/Video, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Bedroom with clock-radio, hairdryer and ensuite shower room. All furniture and fittings are colour coordinated. There is one suite on the ground floor with wheel-chair access and also a Family Room that sleeps 4.

A Continental Breakfast is taken self-service style in your own room at the breakfast table. We have received many comments on how nice it is not to have to rush to get dressed for breakfast. This also makes an early departure no problem – just leave the key in the box.

Outside there is a courtyard with fountain, 2 ½ acre meadow and a small orchard where you will find additional seating.

For the convenience of our guests we operate a no smoking policy. If this policy offends – we apologise but the majority of our visitors appreciate a ‘no smoking environment’.

We are are just a few minutes walk from buses (Stansted Airport), shops, pubs and restaurants. It takes about an hour to get to London/Liverpool Street from Stansted Airport (7miles) – so you are only just over an hour from London’s West End for shopping, sightseeing or taking in a show. You can either leave your car at the airport car park or take a bus or taxi from Thaxted.

There are regular buses throughout the day to take you to Stansted Airport, Saffron Walden, Dunmow and Bishop’s Stortford – where you can also connect to other services.
